な-Adjectives

な形容詞

な-adjectives require な when modifying nouns and conjugate like nouns with です. Many describe states, qualities, or feelings.

Modifying a noun

Formation: [な-adjective] な + [Noun]

Must add な before nouns

静しずかな部屋へやです。

元気げんきな子供こどもです。

Is [adjective] (polite present)

Formation: [な-adjective] です

No な needed as a predicate

日本語にほんごは簡単かんたんです。

Not [adjective] (negative)

Formation: [な-adjective] じゃないです / ではありません

暇ひまじゃないです。

Was [adjective] (past)

Formation: [な-adjective] でした

有名ゆうめいでした。

テストは大変たいへんでした。
